At the moment the following groups study in English:
The groups follow the Curriculum for the General Syllabus for Basic Education in Theatre Arts.
TUIKE EXPRESSIVE ARTS SCHOOL
Tuike Expressive Arts School offers basic education in theatre arts for adults and
children aged 9 and above. Most of the groups study in Finnish. There are early childhood education classes for children aged 5–6, preparatory courses for 7–8-year-olds, and adult hobby groups for
everyone from beginners to experienced practitioners. The courses are held at Tuike
Expressive Arts School in Tapanila, Viikki Youth Centre, Koskela Youth Centre,
Daycare Yliskylä and Heseva-koti in Käpylä.
Registeration for our courses is via website https://uusi.pilvikanava.fi/tuike/en/
See below for instructions on how to select and register for a group.
New students are admitted for one month from the beginning of the term (except the spring term in production groups as new students are not admitted).
The principal will be happy to answer your questions by email

BASIC EDUCATION IN THE ARTS
Basic education in the arts for 9–18-year-olds
All courses for 9–18-year-olds are part of the syllabus for basic education in the arts.
There are two alternative paths to choose from:
Path A is for new students aged 9–11. If you have not studied basic theatre arts
before, you should choose group A1. If you have one year of experience, you should
choose group A2, and so on.
If you start your basic education in theatre arts at the age of 12–14, you should
choose group B1. If you are a 12–15-year-old who has completed level B1 or you have
previous experience, you should choose B2, and so on.
We can always create a customised curriculum for you, so please contact us if you
need help choosing a group! Contact the school’s principal by email
ilmaisukoulu@teatterituike.fi or call +358 (0)44 245 0378.
Adults can also complete the syllabus for basic education in the arts if they wish.
Contact the school’s principal ilmaisukoulu@teatterituike.fi, and we
will create a personalised curriculum for you.
OTHER COURSES
Courses for 5–8-year-olds
5–8-year-olds can participate in early childhood education and preparatory
education courses. They can proceed to basic education in arts when they are 9 years old.
Courses for adults
Courses for adults are not part of the syllabus for basic education in the arts – these
groups are based on your level of experience. If you are a beginner or need to update
your skills, you should choose a beginners’ group. Those who have completed a
beginners’ course or have obtained theatre experience elsewhere should choose an
intermediate course. You can join an advanced group if you have been doing theatre
for a long time.
There will also be some short courses for adults during the academic year. You can
find information about current courses on our website.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND DISCOUNTS
If you would like to apply for a scholarship or reduced tuition fees, you must
apply in writing to Tuike Expressive Arts School’s Board of Directors. The Board
makes an annual decision on the sum to be allocated to free student places.
You must apply for a scholarship or reduced tuition fees before attending
classes. Start registering in the normal way, but stop the process before payment. Fill
out the application form online immediately after
registering: https://forms.gle/JuJL2GT3r6ov76Dh8
This will enable us to reserve a place for you in the group.
The Board will then make its decisions on the basis of the applications. Applications
must be received by 3 September for the autumn term and by 16 January for the
spring term. The decisions will be made by the end of September/January, and
applicants will be informed individually.

groups. You will pay full price for the first course and get a discount for other family
members or additional courses. The family discount will be shown on your invoice.
Remember to notify us of your right to receive the discount:

HOW TO REGISTER
You should first select the appropriate group and place it in your shopping cart. You
can only register once for each course. If you would like to enrol several students on
the same course, you will unfortunately have to make separate purchases for each
student. However, you can enrol a student on several different courses at once.
We hold courses at different locations. Please check that the teaching location is
suitable for you before registering.
Fill in your personal details. NOTE! Please provide an email address that you are
actively using. We will send you emails about important course-related matters, such
as schedule changes. The payment link will also be sent to the email address you
provide. Please note that you can pay full-year and per-term tuition fees in smaller
instalments. Once we have emailed you the payment link, click on the “Jousto”
option and make an instalment purchase agreement. Tuike is not responsible for the
content of the instalment purchase agreement or any additional fees charged by the
external provider.
Registration for the full year:
If you register for the full academic year, you will be charged a lower rate for tuition.
You will pay for the entire year in one go and will not receive another invoice in the
spring. If you decide not to attend in the spring, you can apply for a refund for the
spring term. If you receive a refund for the spring term, you will end up paying the
full price for the autumn term plus a processing fee of €15. That is, you will not
receive the discount if you do not attend for the full academic year. You can check the
prices for each term in the course details.
Registration for the spring or autumn term only:
It is possible to enroll in almost all groups for just one term, with the exception of
some separately mentioned production groups. If you initially enroll for only one
term, you should choose the autumn or spring tuition fee from the payment options.
Continuing in the spring term:
If you register only for the autumn term, a place for the spring term will
automatically be reserved for you as well. This means that you don’t need to register
separately for the spring term. You will receive a payment link for the spring tuition
fee at the end of the year. You can secure your place on the course by paying the
spring tuition fee. You may also cancel your registration for the spring term when
you receive the payment link. Just send us a message ilmaisukoulu@teatterituike.fi and we will
cancel your registration for the spring term and you will not have to pay the course
fee.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE
- Cancelling your registration and quitting a course
You can cancel your registration before the start of the course or after the first class.
After this, you are obliged to pay the tuition fee for the term in full regardless of
whether you attend the classes or not. If you cancel either before the course begins or
after the first class, your payment will be refunded minus a processing fee of €15. If
you drop out of the course in the middle of the term, the course fee will not be
refunded without a medical certificate. If you join a production group, you commit to
paying for the entire year at the beginning of the course. You cannot quit these
courses in the middle of the academic year. Tuition fees should be paid using the
payment link that you will receive on registration. NOTE! Please contact us
immediately if you are for any reason unable to pay the tuition fee when you register.
Your place on the course will not be secured until you have paid the fee. - Paying in instalments
If you wish, you can pay in instalments. When paying, click on the “Jousto” option
and make an instalment purchase agreement. Tuike is not responsible for the
content of the instalment purchase agreement or any additional fees charged by the
external provider. https://www.jousto.com/kuluttajalle/maksutavat-lasku
- Refunds
After the second class, tuition fees can only be refunded on the basis of a medical
certificate. In this case, a refund may be issued for any classes that you did not attend
after we received your notification. Any classes that were held before we received
your notification will be invoiced in full regardless of whether or not you attended
them. You should therefore notify us immediately if you quit a course, as tuition fees
cannot be refunded retroactively. If the association’s Board approves your request for
a refund, you will be charged for all of the classes held before we received your
notification plus a processing fee of €15. Fees will not be refunded if in-person
teaching is suspended by the authorities. - Attendance
You should always let the teacher know as soon as possible if you will be late or
absent. If you are taking part in a production group, you are obliged to attend classes.
Teachers have the right to remove a student’s acting role from the play if the student
is repeatedly absent from class. If this happens, the teacher will assign other
production tasks to the student, such as costumes or lighting design. - Insurance
Tuike Expressive Arts School does not take out insurance to cover students during
classes.
